ENCORE:
Now You Know
Thursday (with horns)

This was the first Features show I'd been to in almost a year and only the second one in three or four years so I was pretty rusty on all of my Features shows skills.  However, once they took the stage, it all started coming back to me.

The horns were a unique addition to the show.  I think Matt referred to the horn players as "The Topper Boys."  They added a trombone, trumpet, and saxaphone to the band's usual assortment of instruments.

As usual, I was impressed by the crowd.  The venue wasn't packed, but the people who were there obviously loved The Features and really got into the show.  I feel like the band doesn't play around here nearly as much as they used to, yet they continue to create rabid fans.  I'm not sure how that's possible or where these people are coming from.  I also can't figure out why they're not on this message board right now talking about The Features!

I was very happy to hear "Now You Know" in the encore.  It's my favorite song from the SKoS era, and I was really hoping to hear it live again.

It was very nice to see Miss StephanieW once again.  Someday perhaps she'll learn the value of ear plugs at a rock show.

On my way to the show last night I thought about how my behaviors might have changed in the past few years as far as viewing bands is concerned. And, I must say that I was quite surprised to be as into it as I was. (That comment has no bearing on The Features whatsoever, but more of bearing on how lame/old I've become.) No more than thirty seconds into the first song I was bopping/dancing/bouncing/head-tossing, and it never stopped regardless of the fact that I was pretty damn sore. I think that, in itself, is a testament to why I love this band. They make me forget bodily pain.  :D

It was very nice to see TF, as usual. I will admit that I have a hard time wearing the ear plugs when The Features come on; it's a mental block perhaps. Additionally, I caught a glimpse of mindylieu but didn't have the opportunity to talk to her. She was in and out of my sight before the show started, and our paths didn't really cross again.

To sum it up, I loved the show, and the drive wasn't as horrible coming home as I thought it might be. (Sadly, I am no longer a night owl.) I've even considered driving to the upcoming show in Chattanooga or Knoxville, because I think I won't get to see them again for some time yet. Oh, and I was quite happy to hear Thursday as the final song. Ah, memories.

Wow, I have always wanted to hear "Walk You Home" done the right way (with horns) and now it's happened. Without me there. And without any type of documentation! Ah!

Still, sounds amazing.

After viewing a video from the wonderful "lovelikeadrug," I believe that the one song in the set that I didn't know the name of was, in fact, the famous "Rambo" song.

Here's an older video of the song...

Ditto.  Now that they have horn players, I may actually need to make the effort to bootleg them sometime soon.  I'm guessing that won't be for a while, though.

That's a Thursday, so it's not much of a chance.
